Breaking Bad movie in the works

Walter White may be returning in a feature film.

A Breaking Bad film is reportedly in development.

Details of the project were leaked to The Hollywood Reporter, with the leak claiming that series creator Vince Gilligan will return to oversee the two-hour film.

As of yet, Sony Pictures Television (the producers of Breaking Bad) has not made an official statement and it is not clear whether the movie will be made for TV or theatrical release.

Gilligan is reportedly set to write the script and potentially direct the film, though it is not yet known whether stars Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul will return or if the project will act as a prequel or sequel.

Breaking Bad already has a prequel series, Better Call Saul, which has been hugely successful in its own right.

Producers for Better Call Saul are also tipped to be involved with the film project, suggesting that it may tie the two series together.

The film is set to start shooting this month in New Mexico, with the New Mexico Film Office confirming that a project titled Greenbrier is slated to shoot in the region.

The film is thought to be the first in Vince Gilligan’s $50 million deal with Sony Pictures TV, with the writer set to create more shows for the company.

Greenbrier, which is still a working title, is set to be released next year, either in cinemas or on TV.

You can watch all of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul on Netflix now.
