Broadchurch creator reveals how they avoided series 3 leaks

Broadchurch is a spoiler-free zone, says creator.

The creator of Broadchurch has opened up about the lengths the team have gone through to avoid spoiler leaks.

Chris Chibnall, creator of the show which is about to air its third and final series, revealed some of the ways the production team avoided leaks in an interview with Digital Spy.

The writer claimed that scripts were titled differently and didn't feature his name so that they wouldn't be picked up and have their contents released.

“My name isn't on them, but I did write them.Nobody picks that script up, whereas if it says Broadchurch: series 2 or series 3, you'd pick it up. So we start by lying on our cover page and sort of go on from there!”

Chibnall also mentioned about the scripts being digitial with passwords to protect them.

“We watermark everything. Everything is password-protected. We don't issue parts of certain scripts and there were alternative versions. All the things you would expect we do, we did do all of them!"

Broadchurch stars David Tennant and Olivia Colman as two detectives solving crimes in a small town in Dorset.

The first series aired in 2013 and was a huge success, prompting a second. The upcoming third series of the show will be its last.

The show is not the first to take measures to avoid plot spoilers during filming. The upcoming second season of Stranger Things recently had the creators claiming they would be extremely tight-lipped on what would happen.

Broadchurch will return to ITV later this month.
