Cast announced for Ryan Murphy's latest Netflix series The Watcher
The project will begin filming sometime this Autumn.
Naomi Watts and Bobby Cannavale are to star in Ryan Murphy’s upcoming limited series The Watcher for Netflix.
The pair will play the married couple at the centre of The Westfield Watcher case who began receiving threatening letters from an unknown stalker after they moved into a new home.
“My grandfather watched the house in the 1920s and my father watched in the 1960s. It is now my time,” the first letter read.
“Do you know the history of the house? Do you know what lies within the walls of 657 Boulevard? Why are you here? I will find out."
The family hired both an ex-FBI profiler and a private investigator to look into the case alongside the local police but no suspects were ever identified. After renting it out for years, they finally managed to sell the home in 2019 at a $400,000 loss.
Murphy will team up with frequent collaborator Ian Brennan, whom he also worked with on Glee, The Politician and Hollywood, to develop the show.
Netflix reportedly paid a seven figure sum for the rights to this story after beating out six other studios in a fierce bidding war.
It was originally set to be an original film with Paranormal Activity’s Henry Joost and Catfish’s Ariel Schulman attached.
