Charlie Brooker offers Black Mirror season 6 update
Brooker talks Black Mirror in new interview.
Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker has offered an update of the progress of its sixth season.
In an interview with The Radio Times, Brooker said that he didn’t think it was a good time for the anthology series to return due to current events.
The writer, who began his career as a television critic, did however not rule out a return for the series at some point in the future.
“At the moment, I don’t know what stomach there would be for stories about societies falling apart, so I’m not working away on one of those. I’m sort of keen to revisit my comic skill set, so I’ve been writing scripts aimed at making myself laugh.
“I’ve been busy, doing things. I don’t know what I can say about what I’m doing and not doing.”
The fifth season of Black Mirror aired in June 2019 on Netflix, and featured just three episodes starring actors like Anthony Mackie, Anthony Mackie, Andrew Scott, Topher Grace and even Miley Cyrus.
Season five followed the first feature-length Black Mirror episode, Bandersnatch, which allowed viewers to choose where the story could go as part of Netflix’s push towards interactive content.
Despite new Black Mirror being a while away yet, the BBC has confirmed that Brooker will return with a new “Wipe” special, Antiviral Wipe, on May 14th.
Before working on Black Mirror, Brooker was known for his Screenwipe and Newswipe series, which poked fun at TV tropes.
