Chris Hemsworth cast in Hulk Hogan biopic
The film will focus on the wrestler's rise to fame and immense popularity during the 1970s and 80s.
Chris Hemsworth has been cast to play Hulk Hogan in an upcoming Netflix biopic.
The as-of-yet untitled project will focus on the wrestler’s rise to fame in the late 1970s and 80s as emerged from the Florida circuit to become one of the the WWE’s biggest stars.
Todd Phillips, whose previous credits including The Hangover and DC’s upcoming Joker prequel, is set to direct and the script will come from Scott Silver who authored the acclaimed Eminem biopic 8 Mile.
A Star is Born’s Bradley Cooper and Hemsworth will act as producers for the film while Hogan is onboard as a consultant.
During an interview in 2013, he named Hemsworth as somebody he’d like to see portray him. “We need a serious, serious actor that knows what he’s doing,” he said. “You know who I thought would be good? That guy that did that action movie Thor.”
Hemsworth will reprise his role as Thor this April in the highly-anticipated Avengers: End Game and will also star alongside Tessa Thompson in a glossy reboot of 90s sci-fi hit Men In Black this summer.
