Clarkson teases Top Gear replacement via Twitter

Jeremy Clarkson has taken to Twitter to tease the development of his new, Amazon Prime-funded show.

The former Top Gear presenter shared a picture with his 5.6 million Twitter followers of James May, Richard Hammond and himself posing in front of the new show's production staff - jokingly called a “skeleton crew”.

The picture also showed the presenters with a Ferrari, Porsche and McLaren.

The new motoring show, which is still unnamed, is rumoured to have a budget of $338 million, including the fees for Clarkson and his co-hosts, as well as ex-Top Gear producer Andy Wilman.

The ex-Top Gear crew have been contracted to make 36 episodes of the new show over 3 years, which will air exclusively on Amazon Prime.

Whilst not much is yet known about the programme, pictures shared by Clarkson, Hammond and May seem to show the usual mix of supercars and high-speed hijinks.

The new show has been developed after Clarkson's dramatic exit from Top Gear, arguably the BBC's most popular programme.

The infamous presenter was forced to leave after allegedly assaulting a producer on the show during a row.

His co-presenters Richard Hammond and James May subsequently followed, after refusing to continue the programme without him.

Hammond also took to Twitter to comment on the new project, saying: “The band is back together and it feels brilliant.”

Top Gear is due to continue on the BBC, with new presenter Chris Evans hired to take over.
