Clive Owen to star in Lisey's Story
He'll play the titular widow's late husband in flashbacks.
Clive Owen has joined the cast of Apple TV+'s upcoming limited series Lisey’s Story.
Adapted from the Stephen King’s novel of the same name, it follows the titular character two years on from the death of her husband as she begins to face certain dark realities about him that she’d previously repressed.
Owen will take on the role of this late novelist husband Scott while Academy-Award winner Julianne Moore will star as Lisey.
The show deals with two dual narratives, one which sees Lisey’s life in the present day and another which explores Scott’s backstory.
All eight episodes were written by King himself with Josh Boone, who previously helmed touching teen rom-com The Fault in our Stars and the much delayed X-Men spinoff The New Mutants, in the director’s chair.
Lisey’s Story marks Owen’s first TV role since his Golden Globe-nominated turn in Steven Soderbergh’s acclaimed medical drama The Knick.
A specific release date is unknown but it’s been confirmed that the show will not be one of the nine titles available on Apple TV+ when it launches in the UK on November 1st.
Costing just £4.99 a month, viewers will straight away be able to enjoy series like The Morning Show with Jennifer Anniston and Reese Witherspoon and Jason Momoa’s post-apocalyptic drama See.
