Danny Boyle confirms Bond 25 involvement

The name's Boyle...Danny Boyle.

Danny Boyle has confirmed that he will direct the next James Bond film.

The legendary British director was rumoured to be involved with the 25th film in the spy franchise but has now fully confirmed that he will write and direct the film.

The Trainspotting director was reportedly the producers' first choice to direct the next Bond, but there was doubt he would be able to thanks to his attachment to a Richard Curtis project this year.

However, Boyle has said that he will begin filming late in the year after he's finished the Curtis film and that he was currently working on a script.

"We are working on a script right now. And it all depends on that really. I am working on a Richard Curtis script at the moment. We hope to start shooting that in 6 or 7 weeks. Then Bond would be right at the end of the year. But we are working on them both right now.

"We've got an idea, John Hodge, the screenwriter, and I have got this idea, and John is writing it at the moment. And it all depends on how it turns out. It would be foolish of me to give any of it away.”

Despite the director claiming he is on board, his involvement has yet to be officially confirmed by film studio MGM, which produces the Bond films.

MGM may want filming to start earlier than the end of the year, as this would all but ensure that the film wouldn't see release until later than the proposed release date of November 8th, 2019.

Whilst you can't catch any Bond films via streaming at the moment (thanks to MGM's tight grip on the rights), you can get your fix of spy thrillers like Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, The Bourne Legacy and The Man From U.N.C.L.E on Amazon Prime Video now.
