Danny Boyle leaves Bond 25

Boyle says bye to Bond.

Danny Boyle has quit as the director for the upcoming 25th James Bond film.

The Trainspotting, Sunshine and Slumdog Millionaire director has left the project, citing “creative differences” as the reason.

Bond 25 is set to be Daniel Craig’s last outing as the character, with the script written by Danny Boyle and his writing partner John Hodge.

The film is set to be released on November 8th, 2019, provided the studio can find a new director in time.

Prior to Boyle’s hiring, a number of popular directors were linked with the project, including Denis Villeneuve (who is working on a Dune reboot) and Inception director Christopher Nolan.

Whilst there’s been no further explanation for Boyle’s leaving or any clue as to who will replace him, it’s likely that MGM will be scrambling to find someone suitable.

With the script also co-written by Boyle, it’s also likely that a new version is brought into the fold, with Neal Purvis and Robert Wade having written an earlier draft which may now be used.

This will be the 25th Bond film in the series and Daniel Craig’s fifth film portraying the famous spy.

Talk around his replacement has picked up steam recently, with Idris Elba being the favourite to take over.

James Bond is one of the most popular franchises in films, with the previous film Spectre taking over a billion dollars at the worldwide box office.

Bond films are notoriously rare on streaming services, but you can watch the film that netted Daniel Craig the role - Layer Cake - on Netflix right now.
