David Tennant cast in new Netflix series

The former Doctor Who star will play a suspect in anthology series Criminal.

David Tennant has been cast in Netflix’s new 12-part anthology series Criminal.

Set across the UK, Spain, France and Germany, each episode will take place solely within the confines of a police interview room.

This will allow it to explore “the intense mental conflict between detectives and suspects” from a unique perspective, according to a press release issued by the steaming giant.

Tennant is to guest-star as one of these suspects alongside Agent Carter’s Hayley Atwell.

Killing Eve writer George Kay will serve as showrunner alongside She’s Out of My League director Jim Field Smith

There will be three self-contained episodes set in each location which will all be entirely in the language of that specific country.

Line of Duty’s Rochenda Small, Coronation Street’s Katherine Kelly, Lee Ingleby,  Nicholas Pinnock, Mark Stanley and Shubham Saraf round out the UK cast as police detectives.

Criminal is expected to hit Netflix sometime in Autumn 2019.
