Netflix renews Dead to Me for third and final season
The streaming giant's official Twitter account confirmed the news yesterday.
This article contains spoilers for Dead to Me season 2.
Dark comedy-drama Dead to Me has been renewed for a third and final season by Netflix.
Created by Liz Feldman, the show follows widows Jen (Christina Applegate) and Judy (Linda Cardellini) who meet at a grief support group and become entangled in each other's lives.
James Marsden, Diana Maria Riva, Max Jenkins and Sam McCarthy also star.
Its mix of gripping drama and enjoyably soapy twists has earned great reviews from critics with particular praise going towards Applegate’s performance.
Not too much is known about the plot of this third season, but it will likely pick back up from the previous cliffhanger which saw a drunk Ben (Marsden) crash his car into Jen and Judy’s after his twin brother’s body (also Marsden) was found.
"Not only is he maybe going to find out that Jen was responsible for his brother's death, he's also guilty of a hit-and-run," Marsden teased of the upcoming season.
"And [Jen and Judy] were the victims of the hit-and-run. And his brother was guilty of a hit-and-run in the first season, so the perversity is – it's amazing that Liz can actually have comedy spring from that. It's a testament to her genius."
As well as confirmation of the renewal, it was also announced that Feldman has signed a multi-year deal with Netflix to develop new original projects and series.
You can stream both seasons of Dead to Me on Netflix now.
