Deadwood revival script delivered to HBO

Deadwood could be back sooner than you thought.

The revival of Western-drama Deadwood has received a script which is being shown to HBO.

The much-lauded drama was cut short after its third season, with fans clamouring for its return ever since.

Last year, it was reported that creator David Milch had been asked to work on a revival of the show, with star Ian McShane now claiming that the script had been finished.

In an interview, McShane (who plays sweary villain Al Swearengen) said that the show would come back in the form of a TV movie, but it was up to HBO to confirm it.

“If they don't deliver [the movie], blame them. We'd all love to do it. It would be nice to see all of the old gang again."

The actor will reportedly meet with David Milch to discuss the project in the next few weeks.

Deadwood followed the residents of the titular small town in the midst of the gold rush in 18th century America.

The show went on to garner critical acclaim, winning 8 Primetime Emmy Awards during its short tenure.

Deadwood frequently incorporated real-world characters into its story, with the show often praised for its realism.
