Disney+'s Moon Knight casts Ethan Hawke as villan
This will be the actor's first foray into the superhero genre.
Ethan Hawke will play the villain in Marvel’s upcoming Disney+ series Moon Knight.
It’s not been confirmed exactly what character he’ll be playing but in comic book lore Moon Knight’s (Oscar Isaac) main foe is his former associate and mercenary Bushman.
The two were on a mission to retrieve some ancient Egyptian gold when Bushman turned on Moon Knight, robbing him and leaving him for dead.
Fans have also speculated that he could play vigilante Black Spectre or even the MCU’s version of Dracula as the series is said to be linked to the upcoming reboot of Blade starring Mahershala Ali.
After being beaten nearly to death by the Bushman, Moon Knight (real name Marc Spector) is resurrected by the Egyptian moon God Khonshu to serve as his conduit on earth.
He’s also imbued with superpowers including enhanced speed and strength as well as being highly skilled in martial arts and the use of many weapons from his years as a mercenary.
The show will be written by Jeremy Slater, whose previous credits include the well-received The Exorcist TV series and Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy.
Mohamed Diab, Justin Benson and Aaron Moordhead, the pair behind indie sci-fi horror The Endless, will share directing duties.
A release date for Moon Knight is not yet known.
