The film, which is being produced by HBO, is based on the Ray Bradbury sci-fi classic, which portrays a society where books are banned and are burned by specialised squads. Here's the full synopsis:
“Fahrenheit 451 is based on Ray Bradbury's classic novel. In a future where the media is an opiate, history is rewritten and “firemen” burn books, Jordan plays Guy Montag, a young fireman who struggles with his role as law enforcer and with his “mentor”, played by Shannon.”
Fahrenheit 451 stars Michael B. Jordan (recently gaining acclaim as Killmonger in Black Panther) alongside Michael Shannon.
The trailer gives us a glimpse at what we can expect, with an updated version of the story on offer.
Fahrenheit 451 is one of the most-read sci-fi stories ever, with it previously being known as one of the few classic novels to have never been adapted for screen.
Sci-fi fans are set for a big year in terms of film, with Fahrenheit 451 joining Annihilation, The Cloverfield Paradox, Mute and Solo: A Star Wars Story in 2018.
Westworld is also set to return to screens this year alongside Netflix's Altered Carbon, so there's plenty for sci-fi fans to stream.
The film is slated to come out at some point in May 2018. It will be released by HBO in the US and Sky Atlantic in UK.
