Fargo season 4 could be years away, says creator

Fans could be waiting a while for more Fargo.

The 4th season of Fargo could be a long way away, series creator Noah Hawley has claimed.

The writer and showrunner for the series claimed that the next season would be a few years away in response to rumours that it would be cancelled altogether.

Hawley has said that, whilst it won't be cancelled, the series will be taking a break whilst he works on other shows.

Fargo has had 3 seasons in four years, with Hawley suggesting that he needs time to come up with a premise for a fourth.

The writer is also working on FX X-Men spinoff Legion and a new limited series called Cat's Cradle, along with 2 films he's onboard to direct - Pale Blue Dot and Before the Fall

In an interview, Hawley said that this was not the end of Fargo

“I always agreed with FX that the only reason to do another Fargo is if the creative is there. It took 15 months to get Season 2 off the ground, and 18 months to get Season 3 on the air. I have to turn my attention to the second season of Legion and a film potentially the winter after next. We're looking at three years from now.”

Fargo is a crime series that focuses on mishaps in small towns in the frozen north of the US.

The series is a spin-off of the 1996 Coen Brothers film of the same name and  follows a new story each season in the same universe.

Since its debut in 2014, Fargo has received wide critical acclaim, with viewers praising its performances and its effort of matching the film's tone.

You can catch the first 2 seasons of Fargo on Netflix right now.
