Netflix unveils first look photos for The Spy
The thriller will star Sacha Baron Cohen as an undercover Mossad agent.
Netflix has released a selection of first look images from its upcoming limited series The Spy.
Its six episodes will explore the real-life story of Mossad agent Eli Cohen (Sacha Baron Cohen) who successfully went undercover in 1960s Syria.
“He becomes close enough to ambitious military leaders and their rich friends to earn a game-changing level of trust about Syria’s biggest anti-Israel secret initiatives,” according to Netflix’s official description.
The three images give nothing away in terms of plot, simply showing Cohen standing in the middle of a crowded market place and at what looks like some kind of state event.
The Spy marks a change of pace for actor who was last seen in his hilarious political satire series Who is America? on Channel 4.
All six episodes of The Spy were written and directed by Gideon Raff, creator of acclaimed Israeli thriller Prisoners of War which he would later help to adapt into Homeland.
Alongside Cohen, the series will also star Noah Emmerich as Cohen’s handler Dan Peleg, Waleed Zuiatar as a Syrian military officer and Hadar Ratzon Rotem as his wife Nadia.
All six episodes of The Spy will arrive on Netflix on 6th September.
