First teaser for Damien Chazelle's new Netflix series
The musical-drama will hit the streaming service on May 8th.
Netfix has released the first teaser for La La Land director Damien Chazelle’s series The Eddy.
Set in modern day Paris, it stars Andre Holland as a former celebrated jazz pianist who now co-owns the titular club.
The clip, which follows Holland’s Elliot Udo through the lively streets of nighttime Paris, doesn’t give much away in terms of plot but really helps set the colourful mood of the show.
A synopsis reveals that in addition to trying to keep the club afloat, Udo also has to deal with managing the house band fronted by his on/off girlfriend Maja (Joanna Kulig), the arrival of his troubled daughter Julie (Amanda Stenberg) and shady business partner Farid (Tahar Rahim).
The Eddy is a limited series written by His Dark Materials’ Jack Thorne that’ll run for eight episodes and will arrive on the streaming platform on May 8th.
The show will feature original songs and music written by Grammy award-winner Glen Ballard and Randy Kerber.
Directing duties will be shared out amongst Chazelle, who’s set to helm the pilot and the second episode, Houda Benyamina, Laila Marrakchi and Alan Poul.
Along with Netflix, Chazelle is also currently working on an untitled drama series for rival streamer Apple TV+
