First trailer for Batman prequel series Pennyworth
See how the famous butler got his start.

DC has released the first full-length trailer for its Batman prequel series Pennyworth.
Set in 1960s London, it follows a younger version of Bruce Wayne’s ever-loyal butler Alfred Pennyworth (Jack Bannon).
The two minute clip sees him retiring from life as an SAS soldier to start up his own private security firm with billionaire Thomas Wayne (Ben Aldrige), father of the future Dark Knight, as his first client.
Unlike the other Batman prequel series Gotham, which is currently in the midst of airing its final series on E4, Pennyworth looks to have more of retro, spy thriller vibe.
Featured in the trailer are plenty of car-chases, glamorous night clubs and gun fights.
Singer Paloma Faith and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels actor Jason Flemyng star as the series twisted villains Bet Sykes and Lord Harwood.
Pennyworth was developed by Bruno Heller and Danny Cannon, with the former responsible for creating Gotham.
The Alfred character was perhaps most famously played by English actor Michael Caine in Christopher Nolan’s acclaimed Batman trilogy.
Jeremy Irons most recently took on the role for 2016’s Batman vs Superman and 2017’s Justice League.
The series will debut on 28th July in the US but there’s no word on UK premiere date.
