Line of Duty season 5 receives first trailer
Jed Mecurio's thrilling series is expected to return sometime in mid-2019.
The BBC has released the first trailer for the fifth season of acclaimed police procedural Line of Duty.
The explosive minute-long clip reveals that this series’ main antagonist will be shadowy crime syndicate the Balaclava Men, who revealed as being responsible for all of the previous kidnappings, murders and cover-ups last season.
We see them hijack a police convoy and unleash a storm of bullets upon the officers involved which is presumably what prompts DS Steve Arnott (Martin Compston) and DC Kate Flemming (Vicky McClure) of AC-12 to begin investigating.
A glimpse of two of the gang's pivotal figures, This is England’s Stephen Graham and Rochenda Sandall, is shown while it's also suggested that the identity of the corrupt police officer known only as H will finally be revealed.
Set to return alongside Compston and McClure is Adrian Dunbar as their Superintendent Ted Hastings, Maya Sondhi as PC Maneet Bindra, Aiysha Hart as DS Sam Railston and Tony Pitts as Chief Superintendent Les Hargreave.
Creator Jed Mecurio, who's also responsible for last year's smash-hit political thriller Bodyguard, wrote the entire season.
There’s currently no word on an official air date but the series is expected to air sometime in mid-2019.
