First trailer for The Witcher: Blood Origin

It serves as a prequel to the main series being set 1,200 years before Geralt's (Henry Cavill) time.

Netflix has released the first trailer for its upcoming The Witcher prequel series Blood Origin

The clip first came Marvel-style after the credits for the final episode of The Witcher season 2 which was released worldwide last Friday 17th December.

Set 1,200 years before the events of the main show, it’s set to follow elite elven warrior Éile (Sophia Brown), nomadic Scian (Michelle Yeoh) who’s on a quest to retrieve a sacred stolen sword and the vengeful Fjall (Laurence O’Fuarain).

This trailer doesn’t dive too much into its plot simply giving us a look at the central trio in sword-swinging action.

It’s been confirmed that Blood Origin will explore events which are crucial to the lore of the franchise including the creation of the very first witcher and the conjunction of the spheres, when the worlds of monsters, men and elves combined into one.

Mirren Mack, Lenny Henry, Nathaniel Curtis, Dylan Moran, Jacob-Collins Levy, Lizzie Annis, Huw Novelli, Francesca Mills, Amy Murray and Zach Wyatt are also set to star.

The Witcher: Blood Origin currently doesn’t have a release date but it’s expected to arrive on Netflix sometime next year.

You can stream both seasons of The Witcher on Netflix now.
