First trailer for Tin Star surfaces

Take a first look at Tim Roth's latest series.

The first trailer for the upcoming Sky Atlantic show Tin Star has been released.

The Sky Original Production is heading to screens later this year, with the trailer acting as the first look at the series.

Tin Star stars Tim Roth as a British detective who moves to the Rocky Mountains in Canada to become the sheriff. After his daughter is killed, he looks for revenge, coming to blows with Christina Hendricks as the local oil executive.

The 10-part series has been written by screenwriter Rowan Joffe - best known for his work on the zombie horror film 28 Days Later.

Alongside Roth and Hendricks are actors from a number of well-known shows, including Orphan Black's Kevin Hanchard, The Casual Vacancy's Abigail Lawrie and True Blood's Christopher Heyerdahl.

The trailer promises a hammy-but-fun tone along with some expected strong violence - something that we're used to seeing in Tim Roth's collaborations with Quentin Tarantino.

Writer Rowan Joffe said that he was excited to be working with big-name actors on a series.

“As a movie screenwriter I saw Tin Star as an opportunity to author an epic piece of cinema in the long-form series format. This means vast landscapes, classic themes, complex characters on dangerous journeys - and performances of the highest calibre.”

The series was commissioned by Sky last year, with filming finishing earlier this year.

Tin Star will air on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV when it's released later on in the year.
