Original Fleabag stage play to stream on Amazon Prime
The show was performed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge for the last time in 2019.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s Fleabag stage show is amongst those National Theatre plays which are headed to Amazon Prime.
Subscribers will be able to exclusively stream the show, which was filmed as part of its sold-out West End run in 2019, from 11th June.
Danny Boyle’s version of Frankenstein starring Jonny Lee Miller and Benedict Cumberbatch and Lyndsey Turner’s 2015 take on Hamlet also headlined by Cumberbatch will be available too.
Waller-Bridge originally performed the Fleabag stage show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2013 to critical acclaim.
It went on to be adapted into the wildly popular BBC series of the same name which ran for two seasons in 2016 and 2019.
“The National Theatre have brought us some of the most memorable theatrical productions of the past decade, and we are delighted to give our customers across the UK and Ireland an opportunity to experience them,” said Martin Backlund, Amazon’s Head of Content UK, Ireland and Nordics.
“The cream of UK acting talent so often started their career in theatre, and we want to shine a light on the incredible heritage we have here.”
Both seasons of Fleabag are available to stream on BBC iPlayer now.
