Friends reunion special officially confirmed

The One Where They All Got Back Together

The cast of beloved 90s sitcom Friends have officially confirmed that they’ll be reuniting for a one off special.

Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer all posted the same group photo on Instagram with the caption “It’s happening!”

The unscripted and currently untitled episode will air exclusively on HBO Max in the US, a new streaming service which is due to launch in May.

It’s not yet clear how British fans will be able to enjoy the special as there’s currently no plans to make HBO Max available in the UK.

The network does have an exclusive long-term deal with Sky Atlantic and NOW TV however, which is how we're able to watch acclaimed shows like Game of Thrones and Succession

Friends originally aired from 1994 to 2004 and is one of the most popular TV series of all time. Its finale drew 52.2 million viewers making it the most watched TV episode of the decade.

The show has also won plenty of younger fans over the last couple of years after all 236 episodes were made available on Netflix.

"It taps into an era when friends — and audiences — gathered together in real time and we think this reunion special will capture that spirit, uniting original and new fans," said Kevin Reilly, chief content officer for HBO Max.
