Full cast for Disney+'s Obi-Wan Kenobi series confirmed
The series will be made available to stream sometime next year.
The full cast for Disney+’s upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series has been confirmed.
It was previously announced that Ewan McGregor will star as the titular Jedi and Hayden Christensen is set to return as the iconic masked Sith Lord Darth Vader.
A new post from the official Star Wars Twitter account has revealed that Joel Edgerton and Bonnie Piesse will also reprise their roles as Luke Skywalker’s Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru. This has prompted speculation amongst fans that a younger version of the character may appear.
Joining the show in roles which are currently undisclosed are Kumail Nanjiani, Moses Ingram, Game of Thrones’s Indira Varma, Rupert Friend and Straight Outta Compton’s O’Shea Jackson.
Fast and Furious’ Sung Kang, Simone Kessell and Benny Safdie, one half of directing duo The Safdie Brothers whose credits include Uncut Gems, round out the rest of the main cast.
Obi-Wan Kenobi will be set ten years after the events of Revenge of the Sith but specific plot details are being kept tightly under wraps. Production is set to begin this April for a release date of sometime in 2022.
The series is just one of many Star Wars projects coming to Disney+ in the next few years. Spinoffs following Ashoka Tano (Rosario Dawson), Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover) and Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) are all in development.
A third season of The Mandalorian is also due to arrive in the later half of 2021 along with The Book of Boba Fett which will follow the bounty hunter within the same timeline.
