Game of Thrones actor cast in Marvel's Inhumans

TV's most hated villain is hitting the screen once again.

Game of Thrones star Iwan Rheon has been cast in Marvel's upcoming Inhumans series.

Rheon, who is best known for playing the villainous Ramsay Bolton in fantasy series Game of Thrones, has been cast as another famously unhinged antagonist in Maximus The Mad.

Marvel's Inhumans follows a race of exterrestrial superhumans lead by Black Bolt, who must lead a royal family of super-powered beings against a destructive force.

Inhumans is due to air on ABC in the US, putting it in the same mold as Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, which has featured characters from Inhumans in the past.

Rheon's character longs for control over the Inhuman people and will inevitably come to blows with Black Bolt - his brother and the king - during the series.

Showrunner for the series Scott Buck said that the character was a complex one.

"Maximus is a complex character. Likable, charming, tragic and villainous all in the same moment, and I'm very excited to have someone of Iwan's considerable talent."

Marvel's head of TV, Jeph Loeb, said that the actor was the perfect casting decision for the character.

"Iwan's ability to be charming, roguish, and still completely unexpectedly dangerous were all the different sides we needed to bring the character to life. We're thrilled to have him on board."

The first two episodes of Inhumans are due to launch as a mini-movie in the US, with the series then running on ABC.

Whilst it's not known when the show will appear in the UK, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D currently airs on E4, so it's likely that's where it will be shown.
