Harrison Ford to star in The Staircase series
The original docuseries followed the trial of US author Michael Peterson.
Harrison Ford is to star in the TV adaptation of true crime docuseries The Staircase.
In his first regular TV role, the actor will play US author Micheal Peterson who was accused of murdering his wife Kathleen at their Forest Hills mansion back in 2001.
Antonio Campos, who’s directed multiple episodes of hit thriller The Sinner, will write the project which is currently being shopped around to TV networks and streaming platforms.
Further casting or a release date for The Staircase has yet to be announced.
Police claim that Peterson bludgeoned his wife to death and then staged the scene to make it appear as though she’d slipped whilst drunk and accidentally fallen down the stairs.
The original eight-part documentary, written and directed by Jean-Xavier de Lestrade, which aired here in the UK in 2005 followed his lengthy trial process.
Lestrade followed this up with two sequel episodes in 2013 and then another in 2018 which covered all of the latest developments in the case.
Every episode of The Staircase is available to stream on Netflix now.
