Hawkeye TV show in development for Disney+
Hawkeye is headed to Disney's streaming platform.
A new show based on the Marvel character Hawkeye is in the works.
The series, which will debut on Disney’s streaming service Disney+, will feature Jeremy Renner reprising his role from the Marvel movies.
The spinoff will take the form of a “limited series” with the character handing over the Hawkeye mantle to Kate Bishop, who is the current Hawkeye in the comics.
The show will join the Loki series and the reported Scarlet Witch and Vision series as part of the Disney+ original roster.
Hawkeye is set to appear in the 22nd Marvel Cinematic Movie entry, Avengers: Endgame, which will cap off the third “phase” of movies.
Fans of the character have been crying out for a solo movie ever since his first appearance in The Avengers, though now it seems he will have to settle for a TV series.
Black Widow, who’s played by Scarlett Johansson, is getting her own movie in phase 4 of the MCU before presumably bowing out.
Whilst little is known about Disney+, it seems likely that Marvel will want to fill the service with exclusive content, especially if it features characters previously only seen in the movies.
