Jude Law and Naomie Harris to lead Sky/HBO drama
The Third Day will see two strangers come together on a remote island.
Jude Law and Naomie Harris are to play the lead roles in a new Sky/HBO drama.
Entitled The Third Day, the series is set on a “peculiar island” just off the coast of Britain “a land where inhabitants are determined to preserve their traditions at any cost.”
Told over six episodes, the broadcasters have confirmed that its narrative will be split into two distinctive parts.
The first, known as Summer, will follow a man named Sam (Law) who finds himself being mysteriously drawn to the island and its strange inhabitants.
The second, called Winter, sees “a strong-willed outsider” named Helen (Harris) who journeys to the island in search of answers.
Dennis Kelly, who previously penned Channel 4’s fantastic dystopian thriller Utopia, wrote the script while Marc Munden helmed the Summer installments and The Crown’s Philippa Law directed the Winter episodes.
There’s no specific release date for the series, but it’s expected to hit Sky Atlantic and NOW TV sometime next year.
The Third Day is the latest in a string of high-profile collaborations between the two broadcasters following the success of the devastatingly brilliant Chernobyl.
Their next project to hit UK screens will be the upcoming historical drama Catherine The Great starring Academy-Award winner Helen Mirren as the Russian monarch on 3rd October.
