Kevin Bacon confirms Tremors TV reboot

Kevin Bacon will return to the franchise in TV form.

A new TV adaptation of the movie Tremors is due to hit SyFy, Kevin Bacon has confirmed.

The actor, who has been rumoured to be returning to the franchise, confirmed that a pilot will be made for the SyFy channel.

Bacon will reportedly star in and produce the pilot, with the aim of making an 8-part TV series.

Rumours of a return have been around since 2015, with Bacon reportedly approaching production company Blumhouse in the past

Tremors is a 1990 film that sees giant underground worms attack a small town in Nevada, USA.

The film has gone on to be considered a cult classic, with a number of direct-to-video sequels being made including Tremors 6, which is due to be released next year

Unlike a number of his co-stars, Bacon has never reprised his role from the first film until now, with the actor saying it was his only role he'd like to revisit.

“It's the only character I've ever played that I was interested in exploring 25 years later. It (Tremors) is a really good movie. I don't go back and watch my movies but because we were doing this one, I had to go back and look at it.

“It's just the idea of this loser who is living a very ordinary life and has an extraordinary experience with these monsters and becomes, for a moment, a hero.

A Tremors TV show has been attempted in the past, with Tremors: The Series running for one season in 2003.

You can watch Tremors via Sky Cinema On-Demand and NOW TV right now.
