La La Land creator to produce Apple original series
The Oscar winner will produce a secret series for Apple.
Damien Chazelle has signed on to create a new TV series exclusively for Apple.
The Oscar-winning director will helm every episode of the series, the details of which are being kept tightly under wraps.
Chazelle will be teaming up with La La Land producers Fred Berger and Jordan Horowitz for the project, so it will be a big commitment whenever production begins.
This will not be Chazelle's first foray into TV, with the director also being involved with Netflix Original Series The Eddy, a musical series which will see 2 episodes directed by him.
The director is currently working on his latest film project, a Neil Armstrong biopic called First Man, which stars Ryan Gosling as the famous astronaut.
The film is set to release on October 12th and is in the middle of filming, so it's fair to assume Chazelle will go straight from that to the Apple series.
Apple has a number of other shows in production as it readies its own streaming service. These include a Reese Witherspoon/Jennifer Aniston series that takes place on a morning new program, a reboot of Stephen Spielberg's Amazing Stories, a thriller series featuring Octavia Spencer and a comedy series starring Kristen Wiig.
This suggests that Apple is throwing some serious money behind its own programming in a bid to catch up with the likes of Netflix and Amazon.
With Netflix reporting record customer figures and Apple being one of the wealthiest companies in the world, the streaming market is set to get even bigger.
