Live-action Silk series in the works
The female superhero has nearly identical powers to Spiderman.
Sony is developing a live-action TV series centred around the Spiderman character Silk.
First introduced in 2014, Silk (aka Korean-American teenager Cindy Moon) was bitten by the same radioactive spider as Peter Parker. She developed similar web-slinging abilities as well as a Silk Sense which alerts her to danger.
According to Variety, Lauren Moon, whose previous credits include Netflix’s coming-of-age drama Atypical, will write the script.
Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who were originally set to direct Star Wars spinoff Solo before being replaced by Ron Howard, will executive producer
While nothing’s been confirmed, Amazon is apparently in talks to acquire the project for its streaming platform.
A character named Cindy played by Tiffany Espensen briefly appeared in Spiderman: Homecoming but it’s not known if she’ll reprise her role.
When the duo signed their deal with Sony last April it was reported that they would create a number of TV series focusing on Marvel characters that the tech giant owns the rights to.
Actress Olivia Wilde is also thought to be directing a solo Spiderwoman film as her Tweet announcing that she’s to helm an untitled Marvel project was accompanied by a spider emoji.
