Lost in Space to end after season 3

"Danger, Will Robinson!"

Netflix has renewed its sci-fi drama Lost in Space for a third and final season.

The news was confirmed by the show’s official Twitter account which revealed that it’ll hit the streaming platform sometime in 2021.

The post was accompanied by a brief visual teaser featuring the number three and a statement from showrunner Zack Estrin.

“From the beginning, we’ve always viewed this particular story of The Robinsons as a trilogy,” he wrote. “A three part epic family adventure with a clear beginning, middle and end.”

It’s expected that this upcoming third season will again consist of ten episodes with Estrin returning as showrunner.

Lost in Space is a remake of the 1965 series of the same name starring Molly Parker, Toby Stevens and Parker Posey as a gender-swapped version of the original Dr Smith character.

“We are so thrilled to share more adventures of the Robinson family and see their journey through to what is sure to be an epic finale,” said Netflix’s Ted Biaselli.

"We're especially thankful to Zack Estrin, Matt Sazama, Burk Sharpless, Kevin Burns and Jon Jashni for helming Lost in Space, which has brought viewers a premium action-packed and visually spectacular series that the whole family can enjoy together."

"We can't wait for our family audiences to see where season three will lead!"
