Lucifer to be revived by Netflix

Lucifer has been raised from the dead by the streaming service.

Lucifer has been renewed by Netflix for its 4th season.

The show was previously shown on FOX but was cancelled by the network, prompting fans to launch a social media campaign for a streaming service to revive the series.

Lucifer is based on the comic book and sees the Lord of Darkness head to Earth in human form and help solve crimes with LAPD detective Chloe Decker.

The series was very popular with its fan-base, which caused a huge backlash when it was initially cancelled.

Now, Netflix will air the 4th season of the show as part of its Netflix Original programme, though it will only run for 10 episodes instead of the standard 22.

This is the latest show that was cancelled to be rescued by a streaming service, with SyFy’s The Expanse acquired by Amazon Prime after a big fan campaign.

How this will affect the international distribution is yet to be seen, with Lucifer currently exclusive to Amazon in the UK.

Lucifer will be Netflix’s first series based on a DC Comics property, with the service only previously taking on Marvel projects.

Whilst there’s been no release date for Lucifer season 4 yet, filming is expected to start soon.

You can watch the first 3 seasons of Lucifer on Amazon Prime now.
