Luke Cage 2 release date revealed with new teaser

Luke Cage is breaking out this summer.

Netflix has announced the Luke Cage season 2 release date alongside a new trailer.

The second season of Marvel's Harlem-based superhero series will head to the streaming service on June 22nd.

The date was revealed as part of a new teaser trailer which saw Luke Cage address the audience among clips of him getting set on fire and shot to no avail.

Luke Cage is part of Netflix's Marvel lineup which also includes Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist.

Jessica Jones is set to return for a second season on March 8th, with Daredevil rearing his horned head later on this year.

These will be the first appearances for the characters since last year's Defenders series, which saw them team up for the first time.

The ending of Defenders saw Daredevil seemingly killed and the rest of the heroes scattered, so it'll be interesting to see where season 2 takes us.

Season 2 of Luke Cage sees the indestructible hero become a local celebrity thanks to his daring deeds, with a new, unknown villain on the horizon.

Luke Cage will continue Marvel's big year of superhero forays, with Avengers: Infinity War set to hit cinemas next month and Antman and The Wasp following this summer.

The year was kicked off by Black Panther, which enjoyed one the biggest opening weekends ever alongside wide critical acclaim.

You can catch the full suite of Marvel series along with Marvel films such as Avengers Assemble and Antman on Netflix right now.
