Neil Gaiman signs new deal with Amazon Studios

The author will create exclusive new series for Amazon Prime Video.

Author Neil Gaiman has signed a major new TV deal with Amazon Studios to create exclusive content for streaming service Amazon Prime Video.

It’s not known whether these will all be adaptations of his previous work or completely original series.

The deal was announced during an Amazon show-and-tell in London on Tuesday and will see Gaiman move to the online shopping giant from production and distribution company Freemantle.

Although his partnership with Freemantle is now officially over, projects which were greenlit during his time there will continue to be made.

This includes the acclaimed fantasy drama American Gods starring Ian McShane and Ricky Whittle which is currently filming its second season.

Gaiman has also collaborated with Amazon Studios for the upcoming live-action adaptation of Good Omens ,the 1990 novel he co-wrote with the late Terry Pratchett about a demon and a angel who team up to prevent the apocalypse.

“Neil Gaiman is a phenomenally talented writer, who creates worlds that are compelling, multi-dimensional and narratively unique,” said Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke.

“His fans are ardent, vocal and passionate, and we are fortunate to bring his gifted vision to the Prime Video audience.”

You can stream the entire first season of American Gods on Amazon Prime Video now.
