Netflix horror Tau gets new trailer
Meet the home of tomorrow in the Tau trailer.
A new trailer for the upcoming Netflix original film Tau has been released.
Tau is a horror film set inside a smart home, with the trapped residents having to fight the deranged AI that runs the house.
The film stars Maika Monroe (It Follows) and Gary Oldman as the voice of the smart home.
Written by Noda Landau and directed by Federico D’Alessandro, Tau appears to be a throwback B-movie horror, that at times gives off a Black Mirror vibe.
Much like the rest of Netflix’s original output, the production values and stars attracted to the project are at a premium, though it’s tough to actually gauge the quality of the film at this point.
Tau also appears to be borrowing from a number of other sci-fi films, such as 2001: A Space Odyssey and The Cube.
This is the latest in Netflix’s 2018 film lineup, which has also seen the poorly received Mute and Cloverfield Paradox and the apocalypse thriller Cargo.
Tau also highlights an issue with Netflix films, in that they’re very poorly marketed. Tau is likely to hit the streaming service with very little fanfare and has only been announced 2 weeks prior to release.
You can watch Tau from June 29th or check out the best picks this week right now.
