Netflix sets air date for David Fincher’s Mindhunter
The new Fincher project will drop in the autumn.
Netflix has announced the release date for its upcoming drama series Mindhunter.
The project is being produced and directed by David Fincher and is based on the book Mind Hunter: Inside the FBI's Elite Serial Crime Unit.
Mindhunter follows 2 detectives whose job is to interview convicted killers in order to solve cases that are yet to be closed.
Fincher was not attached to the series when it first started production, but has since been signed on to be both producer.
The director is behind a number of well-loved crime films, including Seven, Fight Club, Panic Room and Zodiac.
This series marks Fincher's second partnership with Netflix, as he was an executive producer and director of the first season of political thriller House of Cards.
Actress Charlize Theron has also been named as a producer on Mindhunter, with Netflix confident enough of the success of the show that it's commissioned a second season already.
The series stars Broadway star Jonathan Groff and Fincher regular Holt McCallany as the two leads, with Anna Torv (Fringe), Cotter Smith (The Americans) and Hannah Gross also starring.
Fincher's return to directing has been anticipated for a while, with his last feature film being 2014's Gone Girl.
Mindhunter is due to hit Netflix on October 13 - just 2 weeks before the premier date of the second season of spooky drama Stranger Things.
