Netflix teases final House of Cards season

The President is back in House of Cards season 6.

Netflix has offered the first look at season 6 of House of Cards.

A teaser for the new season appeared during Sunday night's Academy Awards ceremony, with fans given a glimpse at what we might expect from the show's final season.

This will be the first season of the show to not feature Kevin Spacey after the actor was let go from the series due to controversial allegations made against him.

The final season of the show will revolve around Robin Wright's character Claire Underwood, who was made President at the end of the previous season.

The teaser sees Claire Underwood behind the desk at the Oval Office saying “We're just getting started” - ironic for an ad for the show's final season.

Robin Wright has earned 5 Emmy nominations for her work on House of Cards, with her performance as the sinister First Lady, Vice President and then President being one of the linchpins of the show.

House of Cards was one of Netflix's first forays into the world of original programming, a market it has since cornered in terms of sheer quantity.

The show was initially very well received but has seen critical response fall off in recent years due to the overly complex and unbelievable plot and sub-par dialogue.

Despite the teaser for season 6, an official release date has not yet been hinted at, though it is expected at some point in 2018.

You can watch all 5 seasons of House of Cards via Netflix right now.
