Netflix’s Sense8 film starts production

The final episode of Sense8 should hit Netflix next year.

Production on the planned Sense8 finale special is confirmed to have started.

Netflix's globe-spanning sci-fi series is set to come back for a special, feature-length finale episode, which will wrap up the story.

The series was officially cancelled by Netflix earlier in the year, with the streaming service claiming that it was too expensive and too few subscribers watched it.

Looking at the production, the talk of expense was correct, with the series filming in 13 different countries and reportedly costing $9 million per episode.

The fans the show did have were outraged by the decision, spawning a campaign to continue the series in some shape or form.

This has culmulated in the commissioning of a feature length special, which is due to appear on Netflix in 2018.

Miguel Angel Silvestre, who plays Lito in the show, posted an Instagram picture of what appears to be the script for the special, with the words Berlin, Brussels, Paris and Napoli written on, suggesting that shooting will take place in these locations.

The special also appears to have been written by co-creator Lana Wachowski, Cloud Atlas writer David Mitchell and novelist Aleksandar Hemon, all 3 of which worked on the second season.

Plot details for the special are still under wraps, though it's likely that the film will pick up soon after season 2's final episode.

You can watch the first 2 seasons of Sense8 on Netflix right now.
