New footage confirms Hailee Steinfeld's Hawkeye role
The Academy-Award nominee will be playing Kate Bishop after all.
New on set videos from Marvel’s upcoming Hawkeye series confirms that Hailee Steinfeld will play his protégé Kate Bishop.
While the comic book giant has yet to comment, stills from footage submitted to site Murphy’s Multiverse show the actress shooting with star Jeremy Renner and holding a bow.
For many Marvel fans Steinfeld is the top choice for Bishop and rumours began swirling around her casting just a few months after the show was officially announced last year.
She has previously been quite vague about her involvement telling the Radio Times that “it’s not something that's necessarily happening” in a November 2019 interview.
Introduced in 2005, Kate Bishop is the daughter of a wealthy New York family who decides to devote her life to fighting crime after being attacked in Central Park.
She soon joins the Young Avengers and becomes Hawkeye’s protégé before eventually taking on the mantle herself.
Hawkeye was created by Jonathan Iga who will also serve as head writer. Amber Finlayson, Katie Ellwood and Rhys Thomas are amongst those set to direct.
It’s one of three Marvel series, alongside WandaVision and Falcon and The Winter Soldier, which will be shown exclusively on Disney+.
A release date for Hawkeye is not yet known.
