New Nicolas Winding Refn series gets release date
The latest Amazon original series will drop this summer.
A release date for the upcoming series Too Old to Die Young has been announced.
The series, which is being directed by Danish filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn, will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on June 14th.
Too Old to Die Young stars Miles Teller and John Hawkes and follows a police officer who finds himself immersed in LA’s criminal underbelly after murdering a woman.
The series will run for 10 episodes, with the official synopsis claiming that the characters will experience an “existential journey from being killers to being Samurais in the City of Angels”.
This quote and the official trailer suggest that Too Old to Die Young will feature the classic neon-soaked, violent tone of Winding Refn’s other projects.
The director moved into English-language filmmaking with 2008’s Bronson, which starred Tom Hardy as the notorious British prisoner.
The director went on to work on Drive, which ended up becoming a bit of a cult classic and cemented his ultra-cool style among film fans.
Recent films such as The Neon Demon and Only God Forgives have been less well received, though this is mainly because they lean into the weirder aspects of his style.
You’ll be able to watch the full first season of Too Old to Die Young when it lands on Amazon Prime Video.
