New teaser for first episode of Doctor Who's tenth season

The seventeen second clip was revealed on the show's official Twitter account.

A brand-new teaser for the first episode of Doctor Who's upcoming tenth season has been unveiled by the show's official Twitter account.

The seventeen second clip features the iconic blue TARDIS stood in the middle of a muddy field surrounded by a ring of heavily armed tanks and is accompanied by a voice-over from new companion Bill (Pearl Mackie)

Season ten of Doctor Who will premiere on BBC One on Saturday 15th April and is set to be the last outing for both current Doctor Peter Capaldi and showrunner Steven Moffat, who joined the long-running sci-fi show's production team back in 2008 after the departure of Russel T. Davis.

Writer Chris Chibnall, whose previously worked on Doctor Who spin-off Torchwood and ITV's critically acclaimed murder mystery Broadchurch, has been selected to replace him.

An official synopsis for the upcoming episode has also been revealed, teasing the next stage of the Doctor's adventure.

"Two worlds collide when the Doctor meets Bill. A chance encounter with a girl with a star in her eye leads to a terrifying chase across time and space," it reads.

"Bill's mind is opened to a Universe that is bigger and more exciting than she could possibly have imagined – but who is the Doctor, and what is his secret mission with Nardole on Earth?”

Moffat confirmed in an interview with the Radio Times that the main antagonist for this episode will be the Darleks and that a number of other classic Doctor Who monsters, like the Ice Warriors and Mondasian Cyberman, will be making an appearance over the course of the series.
