New Twin Peaks season “would take years” says Lynch

The legendary director has spoken out about Twin Peaks season 4.

A new season of Twin Peaks “would takes years to make”, creator David Lynch has said.

In a new interview with the surrealist director, he claimed that he would be happy to create a 4th season of the show, but that it would be a long way away.

Lynch gave an interview at the Belgrade Cultural Centre in Serbia where he broke his silence about the possibility of a 4th season.

There, he left the door open for more episodes but warned that it would take a while even if it was commissioned now.

“It took me four and a half years to write and film this season,” Lynch reminded everyone.

As well as questions about the potential for a 4th season, Lynch was also asked about some of the plot points in the recent Twin Peaks: The Return. A fan asked about Audrey Horne, one of the memorable characters in the original show, and what her fate was.

Lynch's response was pretty typical of the director, who rarely speaks about his own creations.

“What matters is what you believe happened. Many things in life just happen and we have to come to our own conclusions. You can, for example, read a book that raises a series of questions, and you want to talk to the author, but he died a hundred years ago. That's why everything is up to you.”

Twin Peaks: The Return has just finished its 18-episode run, with reactions to it ranging from disappointed bewilderment to fascinated adoration.

The end of the season left many fans scratching their heads, with a huge amount of fan theories and speculation surrounding the mysterious cliffhanger.

This has ramped up the amount of calls for a 4th season, with many fans feeling that there is more to be explored within the world of Twin Peaks.
