Oscar Isaac in talks to star in Marvel's Moon Knight

Moon Knight follows a superpowered mercenary resurrected by an Egyptian god.

Oscar Isaac is currently in negotiations with Marvel to star in its upcoming Moon Knight series, according to Deadline.

A fairly obscure character, Moon Knight aka Marc Spector is a mercenary who is resurrected by the Egyptian moon god Khonshu in exchange for acting as his conduit on earth.

The deity grants him powers like increased strength, endurance and speed which he uses in an ongoing battle with the criminal underworld.

Jeremy Slater, who also developed Netflix’s acclaimed adaptation The Umbrella Academy, is set to write the script but the search is still underway for a director.

Isaac is best known for dramatic parts in films like A Most Violent Year and Ex-Machina as well his role in the most recent Star Wars trilogy as charismatic Resistance commander Poe.

Moon Knight was originally announced last year at Disney’s annual D23 expo as part of Marvel’s exclusive lineup of Disney+ series alongside She-Hulk and Ms Marvel.

The first of these The Falcon and The Winter Soldier was originally set to premiere this August but has been delayed indefinitely due to COVID-19.

WandaVision, which sees Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany reprise their MCU roles in a alternate universe inspired by classic US sitcoms, is still on track to premiere sometime later this year.

A release date for Moon Knight is not yet known.
