Peaky Blinders series 5 to begin filming in autumn

The Blinders are back for a 2019 release.

The 5th series of Peaky Blinders will film this autumn, its creator has revealed.

The latest series of the hit BBC period drama will shoot later in the year, with Stephen Knight confirming the filming alongside some more details about what's to come.

Peaky Blinders revolves around an organised crime gang in post-WWI Birmingham and stars Cillian Murphy and Tom Hardy.

Series 5 will take the characters into the 1930s, which is set to dramatically change how the show will continue.

“We are going into the 30s now. There is so much stuff happening, so why not finish the job?

"It is setting those things up. In the 30s across Europe and Britain, there was the rise of fascism."

Knight also commented about how the show will potentially end, with the writer claiming that he has an ending in mind already.

"In my mind, it ends with the first air raid siren in the Second World War. My mum told a story about the air raid siren going off and her mum coming in, pulling the blankets off, and saying, 'Come on, the buggers are here'."

Knight has said that he wants Peaky Blinders to run for 7 series, meaning that the show is nearing its endgame.

Peaky Blinders is one of the BBC’s most critically acclaimed shows, with Stephen Knight also creating Victorian drama Taboo for the channel.

You can watch the first 3 seasons of Peaky Blinders on Netflix now.
