Pennyworth renewed for season 2
Bruce Wayne's butler will be back for more.
Slick sixties spy thriller and Batman prequel Pennyworth will return for a second season, US TV network Epix has confirmed.
It’ll once again consist of ten episodes with production due to begin in January 2020 for a release date of sometime in the later half of the year.
“Pennyworth has been a big hit for us, embraced by critics and fans alike,” said Epix president Michael Wright.
“Bruno Heller, Danny Cannon and WBTV have delivered a brilliant, must watch series. We can’t wait to work with this phenomenal cast and creative team on another exciting season.”
The series explores the early life of Batman’s loyal butler Alfred (Jack Bannon), a former SAS soldier who teams up with young billionaire Thomas Wayne (Ben Aldridge) to take down a sinister society that's quietly conspiring to overthrow the British government.
Series creator Heller will once again author the script with Canon back on directing duties.
Despite expressing initial skepticism at the show’s premise, it’s received mostly positive reviews from fans and critics alike.
Pennyworth airs here on Starzplay in the UK, a subscription-based channel that’s only available with an Amazon Prime Video account.
