Pose renewed for season 3 by FX
Ryan Murphy's vibrant drama has been highly praised for its diversity.
FX has renewed its critically-acclaimed drama Pose for a third season.
The premiere episode of its second series drew record levels of viewership in the US along with more excellent reviews, currently standing at 96% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Created by American Horror Story’s Ryan Murphy, it explores New York City’s colourful ballroom culture of the 80s and 90s following Blanca Rodriguez (Mj Rodriguez) who sets out to start her own fashion house.
Pose is particulary noteable for its diversity, having TV’s largest cast of transgender actors, including Rodriguez, Indya Moore, Dominique Jackson and Angelica Ross, and variety of black and latino LGBTQ+ characters.
While the first season took place between 1987 and 1988, the second has jumped forward to 1990 to examine the impact of Madonna’s hit single Vogue on the scene as well as the devastating HIV/AIDS crisis.
This renewal for season three has come much earlier in the series than the order for season two did, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
FX chairman John Landgraf previously praised Pose for being a series that has “elevated our culture and the TV landscape like few shows before it.”
Murphy is currently also working on several major series for Netflix including a One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest prequel series starring Sarah Paulson.
The second series of Pose, which is currently airing in the US, doesn’t have an official UK release date.
