Preacher season 2 to “feel more like the comic”
The second season will see the source material come to life.
Season 2 of Preacher will “feel more like the comic”, its executive producer has said.
Sam Catlin said that fans would be satisfied with the story in the second season of the show, after some were disappointed with the direction the first was taken in.
Preacher is an adaptation of the well-known comic series, which sees small-town preacher Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper) taken over by an entity to challenge the God himself.
Custer is joined by companions Cassidy, a hard-drinking Irish vampire and Tulip, his ex-girlfriend.
The first season surprised some fans by essentially acting as a prelude to the start of the comic series, with producers claiming that the second will fully kickstart the narrative.
In an interview, Catlin said that they would be taking locations from the books and delving into them in more detail.
“So what we want to do is we always want to make “Preacher” feel like “Preacher,” and we delve a little deeper into some of these, what look like little pit stops on the road in the comic book become whole episodes, or several episodes, or stuff like that.
“Then we realized, there's so much story with this world that we're just with these characters that we're just bringing in, and we don't want to shortchange this other world that we're really excited about getting to.
“So yeah, it's exactly what you say: sometimes it's just a couple of issues in a comic book of places that Jesse winds up, but they're whole worlds for us on a TV show that we can really delve into.”
Like the first run, Preacher season 2 is being partly directed by comedy actor and director Seth Rogan.
Season 2 will be released on Amazon Prime Video on the 26th of June, with episodes releasing weekly. You can watch the entire first season right now.
