Punisher season 2 finishes shooting

Frank Castle's second outing has finished production.

Filming has wrapped up on the second season of Marvel’s The Punisher

The news was revealed by actor Jason R. Moore (who plays Curtis Hoyle on the show) who posted an image to his Instagram with co-star Jon Bernthal.

The Punisher is the latest Marvel property to be adapted into a TV series, with the character joining Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist in Netflix’s roster of shows.

Season 1 of Punisher was well-received by fans, with many praising Bernthal’s performance as the violent vigilante.

At last month’s San Diego Comic-Con, Chief Creative Officer for Marvel Entertainment Joe Quesada said that he was thrilled by the reaction to the show.

“Last year, this time, I was going around telling people like you [Punisher is] the best show we may have done. I think there were three fans on the floor, they were like, ‘Come on, man.’ I’m like, ‘If you don’t think it’s the best show that we’ve done and if [Jon] Bernthal is not Frank Castle, I will pay your Netflix subscription for a year.’ Never collected. Thank God."

Whilst there is little details as to what season 2 of Punisher will entail, it’s easy to assume that Ben Barnes will return as Jigsaw, whose origin we saw at the end of season 1.

Since filming has now finished, fans may see the return of The Punisher before the end of the year, though it may still move into 2019.

Marvel fans have already been treated to second seasons of Jessica Jones and Luke Cage this year, with Daredevil set to make a return before the year is out.

This means that the 2019 lineup will likely include Punisher and Iron Fist’s second seasons, alongside a third series that has yet to be announced.

You can watch the first season of The Punisher alongside the full suite of Marvel shows on Netflix right now.
