Renée Zellweger to headline new true crime drama
The Thing About Pam will delve into the complex murder of Betsy Faria.
Renée Zellweger is to star in the upcoming crime-drama The Thing About Pam.
The six episode limited series is currently in development at US network NBC and will serve as an adaptation of the popular podcast of the same name.
It will explore the 2011 case of Betsy Faria who was found stabbed to death at her Missouri home. Her husband Russ Faria was swiftly convicted of the crime but all is not as it seems.
In terms of casting, Zellweger is currently the only name attached to the project.
The Thing About Pam will hail from Blumhouse Television, NBC News Studios and Big Picture Co. The latter two entered into a partnership last year and this will be the first project to emerge from that.
Jessika Borsiczky, who previously served as a writer on comedy series House of Lies, will author the script and serve as showrunner.
This will be the actress’s first major role on broadcast TV, following on from Netflix’s What/If.
Zellweger won her second Academy-Award last year for Rupert Goold’s Judy Garland biopic which followed the legendary performer in the last few years of her life as she embarked on a series of concerts in London.
